"Spitife Mk II"
This painting is a study of one of the truly beautiful
aircraft designs
to emerge from WWII- the Spitfire. Today it is still considered to be
one of the most desirable warbirds by warbird collectors. It is said to be
far and away the most enjoyable aircraft to fly, possessing no bad flight
characteristics. This fact was born out by the ability of inexperienced
R.A.F. pilots to become relatively successful in short order with this
aircraft. Flying Officer John Dundas of No. 609 Squadron is depicted
downing an Me-110 somewhere over the English countryside in late
August,1941.
