"Toryu II"

In a second version of my painting titled "TORYU", I've portrayed the same action from a different view angle. This was done to accommodate the vertical format of a book jacket which was published by Osprey Military Books in England. A Ki-45 "Nick"  piloted by Lt. Kenji Yamada of the 53rd Sentai, a ramming squadron, dove through the formation of B-29s of the 500th Bomb Group cutting "Z Square 12" in two. Only one crew member survived the ramming which took place over Tokyo Japan on 19 February 1945.
