"Line  Of Departure"

At 8:30 a.m. on February 19, 1945 Amtracs of the 5th Amphibious Tractor Battalion cross the line of departure heading for Blue Beach 1. A seven knot breeze and calm seas provided ideal conditions for the landings, but it was little consolation for the young Marines who knew they would  soon be in the middle of a living hell onshore.
