"Don Bryan's Big Day"

Capt. Don Bryan flew a P-51 Mustang with the 352nd Fighter Group in Europe. On November 2, 1944, Capt. Bryan was leading "yellow flight" in his Mustang, "Little One III", when they encountered German fighters over Merseburg, Germany. The enemy fighters were Messerchmitt 109'Gs . Capt. Bryan shot down five of them in as many minutes with an expenditure of 1238 rounds of ammo. He also claimed two damaged.
The painting shows Don's fifth victim that day, an Me-109 G14 from I/JG27, which spun out of control down through the undercast at about 4000 feet. The 352nd Fighter Group shot down 38 German aircraft on this day.
