"The Road To Benghazi"

On the morning of 3 April, 1941, the German 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion
of the 5th Light Motorized Division moves up the coast road towards Benghazi. The British offer light resistance as they have hastily withdrawn and seek to evacuate the town. The vehicle on the left is a 4-wheel drive SdKfz. 222 light armored car with a PAK 20 mm gun turret on top.  The eight-wheel drive vehicle to the right is a SdKfz. 232 heavy armored car with a 20 mm canon and a MG 34 machine gun in a rotating turret.  The tubed structure on top of the 232 is a long range radio antenna.  In the background is an abandoned British truck.
